Indians batting dismay continues in Sri Lankan tri-series
Indian batting line-up yet again succumbed to the quality attack in a seaming pitch in Dambulla. Even school kid knows that pitch would aid for fast bowling and Indian batsmen were either under-prepared or did not able to coup with the seaming deliveries. If we take Sehwag and extras out of the scored board, Indians again scored were well under 100 runs. Considering this is not the first time during this series, Indian think-tank should come out concrete to resolve this long pending issue along with 4 bowlers and 7 batsmen theorem.
Fortunately Sehwag has scored bulk of the scoring and looked in great knick, otherwise Indian team would performed much below the par. Sehwag and extras have contributed 46.6 of the scoring, which were very pathetic, considering that Indians have got supreme batting line-up among the test playing nations. Ofcourse, frontline batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir are not in the team, but that is not an excuse since there are still gifted players having their presence.
Bottomline is Indians are vulnerable to the seaming and short-pitched delivers. If we search for an answer for this weakness, it is very to get an answer. Indian batsmen were not exposed to quality fast bowling and seaming pitches when there were grooming. One side Indians lacking genuine pace attack and on the other side, Indian batsmen obviously coming to the international arena with out being faced quality fast bowling. When they are suddenly exposed to these seaming conditions, they are dancing to the tunes of even mediocre or decent attacks.
BCCI and other cricketing officials should seriously address these issues and lay down seaming pitch in domestic grounds. It would enable the future generation of cricketers to be more efficient against any pace attack in the world. In addition to that, it would pave the way for more fast bowlers bowling with the speed of 150 kmph. Let us hope to see this happening in the near future.
