Hayden toyed Dare Devils with mongoose bat to secure fine win

Matthew Hayden was on his real color with the new beast on the town mongoose bat to hit a brutal 93 to beat Delhi Dare Devils inpsite of Sehwag blistering. Chennai Super Kings minus Dhoni under the captaincy of young Suresh Raina has beaten up Delhi Dare Devils by five wickets.

Stand in captain of Delhi Dare Devils Dinesh Karthik won the toss and chose his team to bat. David Warner was first to go when the score was 35/1. No other batsmen barring Mithun Manhas have given useful contribution though Dilshan and Karthik got starts from which they have not capitalized. But nothing in fact stopped Sehwag’s blistering. He kept on smashing Super Kings bowlers during his 38 balls 74. He played like a typical Sehwag and looked like a champion.

It looked Dare Devils would cross 200 and post a massive total. Super Kings did pull them pack with their disciplined fielding. Skipper Raina involved in three fantastic catches of Dilshan, De Villiers and Rajat Bhatia. Justin Kemp took very good catch of Sehwag who was stealing the show at that time. Dare Devils closed in on 185 at the end.

When Super Kings started their chase it was Hayden who dictated the terms to Dare Devils bowlers like what Sehwag did. Hayden, who did not start well in this IPL 3, got on to his grooves and scored 4 boundaries in his first 9 balls he has faced. He then took mongoose bat, which was talk of the town and batted even better. It was rumored that while using mongoose extra 20% power has to be used. But big Hayden was effortlessly but powerfully hitting the ball. When he got out for 93 scored from 43 balls with 9 fours and 7 sixes, only 44 runs are need from 39 balls. But Morkel and Kemp got out and things become slightly complicated.

Skipper Raina managed things well to get in to comfortable zone. He hit those odd boundaries whenever it is badly needed during the tight spells of Dare Devils. Raina scored 49 runs from 34 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. M Vijay too contributed towards the end by scored a four and a six to ease things out. This victory in the absence of Dhoni is really a confidence booster for CSR. Hayden was obvious choice for the man of the match for his masterly 93 runs.
