Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers by 7 wickets
T Suman scored a brilliant 78 along with Andrew Symonds who scored 53 set Chinna Swamy Stadium, Bangalore on fire to beat Royal Challengers by 7 wickets in a must win game.
Gilchrist won the toss and elected Royal Challengers to bat in this crunch match. Ryan Harris cleaned up in-form Manish Pandey early for 1. Rahul Dravid joined with tournament’s top scorer Jacques Kallis and these two batsmen forged 42 runs. Pragyan Ojha bowled well to take Rahul Dravid for 26, when he looked to score big. Hard hitters Robin Uthappa and Ross Taylor fell cheaply for Symonds and Ojha again. But Royal Challengers batting line-up runs deep down as one or other batsmen always comes good. This time it was young Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli and Jacques Kallis belted Deccan Chargers bowlers suddenly after 15th over. They have smashed 95 runs from just 52 balls with sixes and fours were pouring. Nineteenth over was killed by them for huge fours and sixes and finally they have set a challenging total of 185 to be chased. Ryan Harris and Pragyan Ojha took two wickets apiece.
Skipper Adam Gilchrist and Monish Mishra opened the innings but latter went out for Praveen Kumar for just 9. Suman who came in no.3 spot totally changed the course of the match by his clean hitting. He played superb shots both the wickets and hit those huge sixes with precision. When promising Rohit Sharma got out for Vinay Kumar, Symonds joined with already well set Suman. They both batted brilliantly with lot of determination. They have put a firm partnership by scoring 91 runs from 9 overs. Both remained unbeaten and finished the match with four balls to spare. T Suman adjudged man of the match for his 78 and even Symonds showered praised for the youngster for his clean hitting.
