M Vijay bludgeoned 127 to beat Rajasthan Royals by 23 runs

Murali Vijay has proved some time to the selectors that they cannot ignore him for India’s T20 world cup proceedings by setting Chepauk on fire yesterday. He played an explosive innings of 56 ball 127 runs to lift the Chennai Super Kings morale. Doug Bollinger was a instant hit for Chennai Super Kings as Vijay and him duo influenced them to beat Rajasthan Royals by 23 runs.

What more a Chennai crowd needs, a blazing century and special innings by their local boy, more sixes were hit one after the other, the entire match looked like a highlights and of course valiant effort by Rajasthan Royals to chase down the massive total.

Dhoni won the toss for Super Kings and elected to bat first considering the wicket was placid. But the innings M Vijay produced yesterday was classic as he played shots from the text books and his clean hitting was feast to watch. Even great Mathew Hayden stranded at the other end to watch Vijay belligerent innings. Vijay played a very special innings yesterday as each every shot was played with lot of ease and effortlessly too.

Murali Vijay has smashed 11 sixes during his innings of belligerent. South African alrounder Albie Morkel complimented Vijay and forged a partnership of 152. Morkel smashed 34 ball 62 with 5 sixes and 3 fours. Chennai Super Kings surpassed its previous highest and set a new record in IPL by setting a huge target of 247.

Rajasthan Royals bravely tried to chase down the mammoth total. Consistent Naman Ojha and new Australian entrant Shane Watson threatened Super Kings by their swashbuckling innings. Naman Ojha remained not out till the end like a warrior by scoring 94 from 55 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. Shane Watson produced even better innings during his 25 balls 60 and almost took Rajasthan Royals to the brink of reaching the target. But his fellow Australian team man Doug Bollinger as expected bowled well and even cleaned up Watson, which was a virtual end of the chase of Royals. Bollinger finished with the superb figures of 4-15-2. M Vijay adjudged man of the match for playing a innings of his life time.
