India has retained its number one ranking in ICC test ratings by beating South Africans by an inning and 58 runs by which they leveled the series 1-1 in the second test at Kolkata. Indians managed to win this test match even though bad light cost them a lot of time and overs.
Virendra Sehwag has stormed in to the fifth position in ICC test rankings after his belligerent 293 against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. He has gone up by 16 places from 21st position after scoring 499 runs in four innings. His double century won the test match for India and he currently shares fifth position with Pakistan skipper Mohammed Yousuf. Sehwag has 91 points and is the 6th batsman to cross 800 points.
India accomplished the mission of being number one test team in the world by beating Sri Lanka by an inning and 24 runs in the fifth day. Ponting revealed his ambition after his team defeated the tourists with clinical precision in the first test in Gabba. Australia has beaten West Indies by an inning and 65 runs and displayed solidity in its approach.
